She began working in the theater as an assistant costume mistress for Marshall Mason’s Circle Rep while still in high school. She moved on to become a publicist for Tommy Tune and Elizabeth Swados at Lyn Austin’s Lenox Arts Center. She studied theater in New York, at Princeton and in London, eventually directing and acting with a number of distinguished companies on both coasts for the next 20 years including the Loretta Theater, the Grace Players, the Company of Angels and the Australian Company Nightshift. Acting credits in New York include John Vaccaro (Playhouse of the Ridiculous) productions at LaMama and Theater for a New City on the Obie Award winning A Matter of Life and Death and premieres of plays by Joyce Carol Oates and Rosalyn Drexler, Ophelia in Hamlet, Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet. Los Angeles directing credits include the critically acclaimed Ventriloquist Sex by Rick Mitchell for Edgefest, Sebastian Stuart’s Neon Tetra for the Company of Angels, and The Whorl presented at the Long Beach Women’s Festival. She is directing a new play by John Cantwell Saltine Crackers opening this September at Highways in Santa Monica. In her spare time she teaches College English, writes fiction and sings jazz.
