ALEX
WELLS has directed in six seasons with Culver City
Public Theatre over the past decade. Last summer, Alex directed She
Stoops To Conquer by Oliver Goldsmith. Previously, he directed Hay
Fever (2004), Oedipus Rex (2003), The Deceived (2002),
Henry Fielding’s The Adventures of Tom Thumb (2001) and The
Braggart Soldier (2000). He has directed many classic works for the
Classical Theatre Lab including most recently, his adaptation of Lewis
Carroll’s Through the Looking Glass. As an actor, Alex won the 2008
“LA Weekly” Award for Best Male Comedy Performance as the title role in John
Clancy’s Fatboy at Need Theater. He has appeared on the TV series
“NUMBER3” and the soon to be released film, Radio Free Albemuth
starring Alanis Morissette
and Jonathan Scarfe. Alex is an
alum of the 2008 Directors’ Lab West at the Pasadena
Playhouse. Alex enjoys the opportunities he's had to collaborate at CCPT
with his very talented wife, theatre designer and educator, Susan Deeley
Wells, and to direct his daughter, Maddie in The
Adventures of Tom Thumb and Oedipus Rex. Maddie also appeared in
several of CCPT's Children's Popcorn Theatre plays.
